ITINERARY

DAY 1:
Welcome to Sri Lanka! We’ll pick up at the airport and transfer to our deluxe beachfront accommodations in Hikkaduwa. Hikkaduwa is a relaxing and fun beach town and Sri Lanka’s most popular surf spot. But that doesn’t mean it will be crowded! Our local guides will take us to the best surf spots where we will be some of the only surfers in the water.

DAY 2:
After a light breakfast we’ll head out to the beach for our first surf lesson. If you are a novice or beginner we’ll start with the basics and soon get you into the water. If you are an advanced beginner or intermediate we’ll talk about your instruction goals and then head straight into the water. Our instructor to student ratio is 1:4. After surfing, we’ll head inland for a river safari past rural islands thick with mangroves. With abundant wildlife, ancient temples and a relaxed way of life, this is an opportunity to see a different side of Sri Lanka. In the late afternoon we’ll head to the beach for a sunset surf lesson.

DAY 3:
Today we’ll head south for morning and afternoon surf lessons at some beautiful surf spots. In between our surf sessions we’ll explore Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Galle Fort was built by the Dutch in the 17th century, and is a stunning labyrinth of buildings, sights and culture that remains a thriving community.

DAY 4:
This morning we’ll head to yet another stunning beach for more surf lessons. By now you will marvel at how your surfing has improved! In between surf sessions we will relax on the beautiful beach, or wander around our small village getting a feel for the Sri Lankan culture.

DAY 5:
Tourism is just starting to return to Sri Lanka, and as we are so fortunate to be able to experience this amazing country, this is our opportunity to give back. We will most likely spend our day at a local school or orphanage, helping with a special project, such as building repairs or leading an art project for the children. There will be ample time to get to know the children and perhaps pick up a game of soccer.

DAY 6:
Today we’ll head inland toward the Sri Lanka’s cooler hill country. On our drive to Ratnapura we’ll pass lush tea plantations, rice paddies, and small rural villages. Midway through the drive we’ll visit the elephant orphanage and see how they feed the baby elephants! Upon arrival in Ratnapura we’ll enjoy a hearty meal before starting a trek up Adam’s Peak. Adam’s Peak is a sacred mountain and has been a pilgrim’s center for over 1000 years. We’ll climb the over 5000 steps to the top, resting for the night at a tea house just below the summit.

DAY 7-8:
This morning we’ll be up before dawn to complete our summit of Adam’s Peak. There is nothing quite like seeing the first few rays of sunlight illuminate the countryside. If the day is clear, we’ll be able to see all the way to the Indian Ocean. We’ll hike down the other side of the peak, and it will be time to start our mountain biking adventure. We will spend the next three days biking through the hill country and tea plantations, past waterfalls. The trails are fantastic, the rural scenery is humbling, and the weather will be nice and cool for biking.

DAY 9:
Today is our final day of biking and we’ll end it with a glorious downhill ride through tea estates to Kitigala. We’ll end the afternoon rating on the Kelaniya Ganga. What an exciting way to end our Sri Lankan adventure!

DAY 10:
We’ll leave Kitigala first thing in the morning take you to the airport for your flight home.
